Paddles for Paws Quarter Auction
We are excited to announce our upcoming Paddles for Paws Quarter Auction on August 22nd, 2026 at the beautiful Barn at King Hill venue at 6048 King Farm Lane, Knightdale NC.
We will have lots of vendor variety and food available for purchase. (Must be 18 to attend). Bring some friends, 3 or 4 rolls of quarters, some extra cash for the 50/50 & vendor table raffles, and settle in for a night of fun and prizes!

What is a quarter auction & how does it work?

What is a quarter auction: it is a mix of an auction and a raffle. You rent a numbered bidding paddle at the door for $10. (One paddle per person. If we have any extra paddles remaining immediately before the auction begins, we will open them up for rent.) Each vendor will offer table raffles and auction off one item to be won by a lucky bidder for only 1 to 6 quarters per bid. If you want a chance to win their auction item, you toss the requested number of quarters in a collection bowl on your table and hold up your paddle. If your paddle number is called, you win! The rescue will also have 12 baskets to be auctioned off and, of course, we will do door prizes and a 50/50 cash raffle.
At check-in, you will rent your paddle and get a slip of paper with numbers on it. The numbers represent the different vendors that will be offering table raffles, auction items and direct sales. Before the auction begins, we encourage you to visit each vendor table and see what they have to offer. They will initial off on your paper that you stopped by. Once all vendors have initialed, you'll drop your paper in a bucket for door prizes at the end of the night.
We will offer the opportunity to purchase meal tickets at check-in as well. Meal tickets are $7.50 each. A meal consists of a sub sandwich, chips and drink. Sub options will be ham, turkey or veggie.
Basic Rules & Flow of Play
-
Bring Your Quarters & Cash: Bring at least 3 to 4 rolls of quarters. You will use them constantly throughout the night to place bids. Cash is used for the 50/50 drawing and vendor table raffles.
-
Check-in for paddle rental, vendor visits slips, and meal tickets.
-
Visit each vendor before the auction opens. This is the time for each vendor to show you what they are auctioning off, offer table raffles, and do direct sales.
-
Once the auction officially starts, each vendor, one at a time, will auction off one item. When auctioning their item, they will present the item, announce its retail value and announce the required bid amount in quarters (in the range of 1 to 6 quarters)
-
If you want to bid on an item, put the announced number of quarters into the bucket or bowl in the center of your table for each paddle you are raising. (e.g., if the bid is 2 quarters and you are playing 3 paddles, you must drop 6 quarters in the bucket).
-
Once all bets are in, a volunteer or the auctioneer will draw a numbered chip. If the drawn number matches yours and you bid, you win the item.
-
If your number is drawn but you did not put quarters in the bucket, you simply call out "No bid!" The auctioneer will draw again until a bidding winner is found.
-
Once all vendors have auctioned off an item, we will take an intermission to allow for you to visit vendors if you didn't have a chance at the beginning of the night. We will also sell 50/50 tickets at this time.
-
After intermission, the rescue will auction off 10 to 12 baskets.
-
We will close the night with drawing the door prizes and 50/50 winner.
